23 Search me, O God,
and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
24 Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Psalm 139:23-24
1.
RECOGNIZE
YOUR FAULTS.
In
order to recognize your faults there are three things that you must
do, that no one else can do for you:
- Humble
yourself
Then
he said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began
to pray for understanding and to humble
yourself
before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come
in answer to your prayer.
Daniel 10:12
- Discipline
yourself
But
have nothing to do with worldly fables fit only for old women. On the
other hand, discipline
yourself
for the purpose of godliness.

Timothy 4:7 New American Standard Bible
3.
Examine
yourself
“Examine
yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely
you know that Jesus Christ is among you. If not, you have failed the
test of genuine faith.” 2
Corinthians 13:5
40 Some
Pharisees who were standing nearby heard him and asked, “Are you
saying we’re blind?” 41 “If
you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus replied. “But
you remain guilty because you claim you can see.
John 9:40-41
12 Even one of their own men, a prophet from Crete, has said about them, “The people of Crete are all liars, cruel animals, and lazy gluttons.” 13 This is true. So reprimand them sternly to make them strong in the faith. Titus 1:12-13
2.
EMPHASIZE
HIS
LEAD.
21 For
from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual
immorality, theft, murder,
22 adultery,
greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and
foolishness. 23 All
these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
Mark 7:21-23
God’s
goal is not leisure. It is likeness.
8 Yes,
everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of
knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded
everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain
Christ
Philippians
3:8
3.
GOD WILL MAXIMIZE
YOUR
OBEDIENCE.
28 And
we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of
those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28
