Happy Birthday Jesus!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR THIS CHRISTMAS?

The time came for Mary and Joseph to do what the Law of Moses says a mother is supposed to do after her baby is born. They took Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem and presented him to the Lord, 23just as the Law of the Lord says, "Each first-born baby boy belongs to the Lord." 24The Law of the Lord also says that parents have to offer a sacrifice, giving at least a pair of doves or two young pigeons. So that is what Mary and Joseph did. 25At this time a man named Simeon was living in Jerusalem. Simeon was a good man. He loved God and was waiting for God to save the people of Israel. God's Spirit came to him 26and told him that he would not die until he had seen Christ the Lord.
27When Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple, the Spirit told Simeon to go into the temple. 28Simeon took the baby Jesus in his arms and praised God,

29"Lord, I am your servant, and now I can die in peace, because you have kept your promise to me. 30With my own eyes I have seen what you have done to save your people, 31and foreign nations will also see this. 32Your mighty power is a light
for all nations, and it will bring honor to your people Israel."
33Jesus' parents were surprised at what Simeon had said. 34Then he blessed them and told Mary, "This child of yours will cause many people in Israel to fall and others to stand. The child will be like a warning sign. Many people will reject him, 35and you, Mary, will suffer as though you had been stabbed by a dagger. But all this will show what people are really thinking."

36The prophet Anna was also there in the temple. In her youth she had been married for seven years, but her husband died. 37And now she was eighty-four years old. Night and day she served God in the temple by praying and often going without eating. 38At that time Anna came in and praised God. She spoke about the child Jesus to everyone who hoped for Jerusalem to be set free.

Luke 2:22-38 (CEV)

1. SIMEON WAS WAITING FOR GOD TO SAVE THE PEOPLE

2. ANNA WAS WAITING FOR GOD TO SET THE PEOPLE FREE

She spoke about the child Jesus to everyone who hoped for Jerusalem to be set free.

3. BECOME A 3M BELIEVER

BECOME A MARVELER
The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.

Luke 2:33 (NIV)

A marveler is to be filled with wonder, astonishment, and surprise.

BECOME A MOVER

Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required.

Luke 2:27 (NIV)

When the Holy Spirit prompted them to move, they didn’t sit still.

Luke 2:38 (CEV)

You don’t have to wait any longer because
JESUS is God’s gift for you!

WHAT IS THE BEST GIFT I COULD POSSIBLY GIVE JESUS?

They were thrilled and excited to see the star. 11When the men went into the house and saw the child with Mary, his mother, they knelt down and worshiped him. They took out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh and gave them to him. 12Later they were warned in a dream not to return to Herod, and they went back home by another road. 13After the wise men had gone, an angel from the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up! Hurry and take the child and his mother to Egypt! Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is looking for the child and wants to kill him." 14That night, Joseph got up and took his wife and the child to Egypt, 15where they stayed until Herod died. So the Lord's promise came true, just as the prophet had said, "I called my son out of Egypt."
Matthew 2:10-15 (CEV)

1. GOD HAS ALREADY PREPARED & SENT MY PROVISIONS

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (NLT)

2. GOD’S PROVISIONING HAND IS UPON ME FOREVER

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

Each morning everyone gathered as much as they needed, and in the heat of the day the rest melted.

Exodus 16:21 (NLT)

3. LET JESUS ACCOMPLISH HIS WILL IN ME. (I need to get HEALED and get going with life)

If people can't see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Proverbs 29:18 (TM)

If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we're obviously lying through our teeth—we're not living what we claim.
John 1:16 (TM)

Right now I call the sky and the earth to be witnesses that I am offering you this choice. Will you choose for the LORD to make you prosperous and give you a long life? Or will he put you under a curse and kill you? Choose life! 20Be completely faithful to the LORD your God, love him, and do whatever he tells you. The LORD is the only one who can give life, and he will let you live a long time in the land that he promised to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (CEV)

Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth! 19Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
Matthew 28:18-20 (CEV)

HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF THE BEST GIFT THIS CHRISTMAS

He said to Simon (Peter), “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5“Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! 7A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
Luke 5:4-7 (NLT)

Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he (Jesus), healed everyone.

Luke 6:19 (NLT)

1. GO OUT WHERE IT IS DEEP, WHERE YOU CAN’T TOUCH BOTTOM (Can’t play it safe anymore)

Don't be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he'll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

Galatians 6:7-8 (TM)

“To you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. 35Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.

Luke 6:27, 28, 35-23 (NLT)

STEP OUT AND START SERIOUSLY LIVING JESUS INSTRUCTIONS

“So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? 47I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. 48It is
like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.”

Luke 6:46-49 (NLT)

3. ASK JESUS TO REVEAL A FAMILY OR PERSON IN YOUR CHURCH THAT YOU CAN TRULY HELP THIS CHRISTMAS

“You'll not likely go wrong here if you keep remembering that our Master said, 'You're far happier giving than getting.'"

Acts 20:35 (TM)

In the same way, the good deeds of some people are obvious. And the good deeds done in secret will someday come to light.
1 Timothy 5:25 (NLT)

God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won't forget the love you have shown his people.

Hebrews 6:10 (CEV)

When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Romans 12:13 (NLT)

If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

Galatians 6:3 (NLT)

WHAT TO LEARN FROM THE TEMPTATION OF JESUS

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.
3Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, (but by every that comes from the mouth of God)
-Matthew 4:4’”
5Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. 7I will give it all to you if you will worship me.” 8 Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
9Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! 10 For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you.11And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’”

12Jesus responded, (get out of here, Satan) -Matthew 4:10,“The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God (and serve only him) -Matthew 4:10.’”
13When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.

Luke 4:1-13 (TLB)

GET GOD’S BEST THIS CHRISTMAS

1. JESUS WAS THINKING OF ME EVEN WHEN HE WAS TEMPTED.

So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. 8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Ephesians 2:7-9 (NLT)

2. WE MUST RESPOND TO THE DEVIL AS JESUS DID

The Scriptures say… USE THE WORD OF GOD

God's Word is an indispensable weapon.
Ephesians 6:17 (TM)

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

We live in this world, but we don't act like its people 4or fight our battles with the weapons of this world. Instead, we use God's power that can destroy fortresses. We destroy arguments 5and every bit of pride that keeps anyone from knowing God. We capture people's thoughts and make them obey Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (CEV)

3. JESUS USES THE DEVIL TO BRING US BLESSINGS

You meant to hurt me, but God turned your evil into good to save the lives of many people, which is being done.

Genesis 50:20 (NLT)

And we know that God causes everything (does that include the devil?) to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28 (NLT)

HOW TO OPERATE IN THE MIRACULOUS

God gives you his Spirit and works miracles in you. But does he do this because you obey the Law of Moses or because you have heard about Christ and have faith in him?
Galatians 3:5 (CEV)

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Mark 11:24 (NLT)

GET GOD’S BEST THIS CHRISTMAS

1. YOU MUST BELIEVE JESUS IS GOD.

The Lord says, "You are my witnesses and the servant I chose. I chose you so you would know and believe me, so you would understand that I am the true God. There was no God before me, and there will be no God after me.11I myself am the Lord; I am the only Savior.

Isaiah 43:9-11 (NCV)

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)

“Roll the stone aside,” Jesus told them. But Martha, the dead man’s sister, protested, “Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible.” 40Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” 41So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me.

John 11:39-41 (NLT)

2. OUR UNBELIEF LIMITS THE MIRACULOUS

He (Jesus) returned to Nazareth, his hometown. When he taught there in the synagogue, everyone was amazed and said, “Where does he get this wisdom and the power to do miracles?” 55Then they scoffed, “He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers—James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. 56All his sisters live right here
among us. Where did he learn all these things?” 57And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” 58And so he did only a few miracles there because of their unbelief.

Matthew 13:54-58 (NLT)

3. YOU HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE, AND TO WIN PAHOA FOR JESUS

John (the Baptist) announced: “Someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthy to stoop down like a slave and untie the straps of his sandals.

Mark 1:7 (NLT) Humility

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.

John 14:12 (NLT)
18-20 My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality. It's also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves. 21-24 And friends, once that's taken care of and we're no longer accusing or condemning ourselves, we're bold and free before God! We're able to stretch our hands out and receive what we asked for because we're doing what he said, doing what pleases him. Again, this is God's command: to believe in his personally named Son, Jesus Christ. He told us to love each other, in line with the original command. As we keep his commands, we live deeply and surely in him, and he lives in us. And this is how we experience his deep and abiding presence in us: by the Spirit he gave us.

THANKING JESUS BRINGS ULTIMATE BLESSINGS

Jesus said, "Were not ten healed? Where are the nine? Can none be found to come back and give glory to God except this outsider?" Then he said to him, "Get up. On your way. Your faith has healed and saved you."
Luke 17:19(TM)

Saved – “SALVATION” in the Bible comes from the Greek word “sodzo”, meaning to “protect, preserve, heal, deliver, become whole, or to keep safe”.

Psalm 100:3-5 (NLT)

3. THANKING JESUS FOR TODAY RELEASES UNEXPECTED BLESSINGS FOR THE FUTURE

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. 27The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!"

Acts 16:25-28 (NIV)

The jailer asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." 32Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.
35When it was daylight, the magistrates sent their officers to the jailer with the order: "Release those men." 36The jailer told Paul, "The magistrates have ordered that you and Silas be released. Now you can leave. Go in peace."

Acts 16:29-36 (NIV)

HOW TO PREPARE FOR A GREAT THANKSGIVING

What would be an adequate thanksgiving to offer God for all the joy we experience before him…?
1 Thessalonians 3:9 (TM)

LIVE YOUR LIFE KNOWING THAT….

1. YOU ARE PRICELESS BECAUSE JESUS LOVES YOU

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.

John 3:16 (CEV)

To all who are victorious, who obey me to the very end, to them I will give authority over all the nations. 28They will have the same authority I received from my Father, and I will also give them the morning star! 29“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.

Revelation 2:26, 28-29 (NLT)

Ephesians 1:1 (TM)

3. EVERY DAY IS YOUR SPECIAL DAY

LUKE 19:5 (TM)

4. YOU’RE OPPORTUNITY IS NOW!

Look instead for what God can do. We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over. For as long as I am in the world, there is plenty of light. I am the world's Light."

John 9:4 (TM)

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (TM)

Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day—but we'll hardly notice. We'll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness.

SEEING MY PROBLEMS THROUGH GOD'S EYES

Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.

HOW TO BE A SERVANT FOR JESUS, OUR LIVING SAVIOR

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)

1. JESUS HAS GIVEN ME SPECIAL GIFTS TO SERVE IN GOD’S KINGDOM

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)

2. A FAITHFUL CHURCH ACCOMPLISHES MUCH WHEN EVERY MEMBER IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN MINISTRY

God put our bodies together in such a way that even the parts that seem the least important are valuable. 25He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others. 26If one part of our body hurts, we hurt all over. If one part of our body is honored, the whole body will be happy.
1 Corinthians 12:24-26 (CEV)

3. WORK HARD AT USING YOUR SPECIAL GIFT TO ENLARGE GOD’S KINGDOM

Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
Romans 12:11(NLT)

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 11It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.
1 Corinthians 12:7, 11 (NLT)

Every man and woman in Israel whose heart moved them freely to bring something for the work that God through Moses had commanded them to make, brought it, a voluntary offering for God.
Exodus 35:29 (TM)

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Acts 20:35 (NLT)

4. BEING A SERVANT INVOLVES DEVELOPING A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
JOHN 14:19-21 (NIV)

WHAT HAPPENS TO CHRISTIANS WHO DIE?

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died (fall asleep NIV) so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (NLT)

1. “THOSE WHO FALL ASLEEP” REFERS TO THOSE CHRISTIANS WHO’S BODY HAS DIED
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." 60Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Acts 7:59-60 (NIV)

Jesus answered, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up." 12His disciples replied, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better." 13Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. 14So then he told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, 15and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him."

John 11:11-15 (NIV)

2. WHEN THE BODY OF A CHRISTIAN DIES, THE SPIRIT GOES TO BE WITH JESUS IN HEAVEN.
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."

Acts 7:59 (NIV)

Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

Luke 23:46 (NLT)

Jesus took Peter, John, and James up on a mountain to pray. 29And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. 31They were glorious to see. And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.

Luke 9:28-31 (NLT)

But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” 43And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Luke23:40-43 (NLT)

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body.

Philippians 1:21-23 (NIV)

When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of everyone who had been killed for speaking God's message and telling about their faith. 10They shouted, "Master, you are holy and faithful! How long will it be before you judge and punish the people of this earth who killed us?" 11Then each of those who had been killed was given a white robe and told to rest for a little while.

Revelation 6:9-11 (CEV)

3. WHEN THE LORD COMES AGAIN, HE WILL GIVE ALL SAVED CHRISTIANS, DEAD & ALIVE, AN IMMORTAL BODY THAT WILL NEVER DIE (spirit & body reunited)
16With a loud command and with the shout of the chief angel and a blast of God's trumpet, the Lord will return from heaven. Then those who had faith in Christ before they died will be raised to life. 17Next, all of us who are still alive will be taken up into the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the sky. From that time on we will all be with the Lord forever.
18 Encourage each other with these words.

WHAT SIGN WILL SIGNAL JESUS RETURN

Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, 5for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.’ They will deceive many. 6And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately. 7Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. 8But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come.
14When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come.

Matthew 24:4-8, 14 (NLT)

1. THERE WILL BE MANY FALSE MESSIAH’S
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

1 John 2:18 (NIV)

Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

2 John 1:7 (NIV)

2. THERE WILL BE WARS AND THREATS OF WARS
And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling—that is, those who dwell in heaven. 7And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. 8And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the world was made—the Book that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered.

Revelation 13:6-8 (NLT)

3. THERE WILL FAMINES AND EARTHQUAKES
There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Luke 21:11 (NIV)

For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” 6So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear.

Hebrews 13:5-6 (NLT)

4. THE NEWS ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD WILL BE PREACHED ALL OVER THE WORLD
3And I will give power to my two witnesses. 7When they complete their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit will declare war against them, and he will conquer them and kill them. 8 And their bodies will lie in the main street of Jerusalem, the city that is figuratively called “Sodom” and “Egypt,” the city where their Lord was crucified. 9And for three and a half days, all peoples, tribes, languages, and nations will stare at their bodies. No one will be allowed to bury them.

Revelation 11:3, 7-9 (NLT)

5. AFTER THESE THINGS, THE END WILL COME
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

HOW TO LIVE ON GOD’S VERY BEST (Part 5)

Nothing Compares To The Bible

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)

"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land— not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.

Amos 8:11 (NASB)

1. THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY BOOK GOD PROMISED TO INSPIRE
Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, 21or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NLT)

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

2. GOD PROMISES TO BLESS THE READERS OF THE BIBLE
This is a revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants the events that must soon take place.

3 God blesses the one who reads the words of this prophecy to the church, and he blesses all who listen to its message and obey what it says, for the time is near.
Revelation 1:1, 3 (NLT)

3. THE BIBLE IS THE ONLY BOOK THAT WILL LIVE FOREVER
The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

Isaiah 40:8 (NLT)

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

Matthew 5:18 (NLT)

4. THE BIBLE IS ACCURATE
35The eyewitness to these things has presented an accurate report. He saw it himself and is telling the truth so that you, also, will believe.
36-37These things that happened confirmed the Scripture, "Not a bone in his body was broken," and the other Scripture that reads, "They will stare at the one they pierced."

John 19:35-36 (TM)

5. THE BEST TIME FOR DEVOTIONS IS WHEN YOU’RE AT YOUR BEST
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 6For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

HOW TO LIVE ON GOD’S VERY BEST (Part 4)

Keep Clean With SOAP

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:9 (NASB)

You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.

John 15:3 (NIV)

1. TO KEEP CLEAN AND BE HEALTHY USE SOAP –

(method of daily devotional journaling)

We sometimes tend to think we know all we need to know to answer these kinds of questions—but sometimes our humble hearts can help us more than our proud minds. We never really know enough until we recognize that God alone knows it all.

1 Corinthians 8:1-2 (TM)

S = SCRIPTURE
O = OBSERVATION
A = APPLICATION
P = PERSONAL PRAYER

S = SCRIPTURE
Ask the Lord to bring home to your heart one particular scriptural text. Write it down in your journal.

O = OBSERVATION
Ponder what God highlighted for you and write out in manuscript form what you observe.

A = APPLICATION
Write out how you plan to put into practice the lesson the Lord Jesus has brought to your attention. How will I be different today as a result of what I’ve just read.

P = PERSONAL PRAYER
Write out your prayer. It could be to thank Him for giving you the power to apply what you’ve just learned.

For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. 24You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. 25But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

James 1:23-25 (NLT)

If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
John 13:17 (NASB)

Go the extra mile and take 30 seconds to write the Table of Contents entry on the first page of your journal. Include the title of your entry, Scripture reference, the date and the page of your journal entry.

Spend Time With Jesus

Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Luke 10:41-42 (NIV)

The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

John 6:63 (NIV)

I focus on this one thing: 14I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Philippians 3:13-14 (NLT)

1. DAILY DEVOTIONS CORRECT YOU TO WHAT’S RIGHT

Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word.
Psalm 119:37, 67 (NIV)

And He (Jesus) came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives.

Luke 22:39 (NIV)

But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.
Luke 5:16 (NASB)

2. WE NEED THE WORD OF GOD; A HOLY WEAPON TO WIN

And take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:17 (NASB)

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

John 14:26 (NIV)

"It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
Matthew 4:4 (NASB)

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)

Bring A Pen And Bring A Journal

Jeremiah 30:2 (NIV)

“When he sits on the throne as king, he must copy for himself this body of instruction in the presence of the Levitical priests. 19He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the Lord his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees. 20This regular reading will prevent him from becoming proud.

HOW TO LIVE ON GOD’S VERY BEST (Part 2)

You Are What You Eat

Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.
Jeremiah 15:16 (AB)
The Lord answered, "Martha, Martha! You are worried and upset about so many things, 42but only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is best, and it will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:41-42 (NLT)

1. GOD WANTS TO GUIDE US THROUGH LIFE

You said to me, "I will point out the road that you should follow. I will be your teacher and watch over you. 9Don't be stupid like horses and mules that must be led with ropes
to make them obey."

Psalm 32:8-9 (CEV)
"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

John 14:16-17 (NASB)

2. GOD GIVES US HIS VERY BEST

Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.
Proverbs 13:20 (NLT)
It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.

Hebrews 11:4 (NLT)

3. GOD GIVES WISDOM TO DEAL WITH TOMORROW’S CHALLENGES

"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
John 16:13 (NASB)

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Joshua 1.8 (NLT)

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:1-5 (NLT)

When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."

John 10:4-5 (NLT)

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

James 1:5-7 (NLT)

The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.

Psalm 32:8 (NLT)

HOW TO LIVE ON GOD’S VERY BEST

Wisdom beyond life’s lessons

Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever mine. 99Thinking about your teachings gives me better understanding than my teachers.
Psalm 119:98-99 (NASB, CEV)

1. SEEK GOD’S VERY BEST WISDOM

That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you." 8Solomon answered God, 10Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
11God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king, 12 therefore wisdom and knowledge will be given you. And I will also give you wealth, riches and honor, such as no king who was before you ever had and none after you will have."
2 Chronicles 1:7-8, 10-12 NIV)
Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." 41But the Lord answered and said to her, " Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Luke 10:40-42 (NASB)

2. WE HAVE TWO TEACHERS: WISDOM AND CONSEQUENCES

67I used to wander off until you disciplined me; but now I closely follow your word. 71My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.
Psalm 119:67, 71 (NLT)

The Law of the LORD is perfect; it gives us new life. His teachings last forever, and they give wisdom to ordinary people.
Psalm 19:7 (CEV)

3. WE HAVE TWO PAINS: DISCIPLINE AND REGRET

God used your hurt feelings to make you turn back to him, and none of you were harmed. 10When God makes you feel sorry enough to turn to him and be saved, you don't have anything to feel bad about. But when this world makes you feel sorry, it can cause your death.
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (CEV)

Don't even grumble, as some of them did and were killed by the destroying angel. 11These things happened to them as a warning to us. All this was written in the Scriptures to teach us who live in these last days.
1 Corinthians 10:10-11 (CEV)

For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.
17But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.
James 3:15-17 (NLT)

If you are willing, the Bible will give you wisdom beyond your years. It will save you from heartache beyond your imagination.
